What you will need :
A sheet of Foam Core.
A thin piece of Cardboard.
Coffee Stir Sticks.
PVA Glue.
Acrylic Paint(Whatever Colours you want to paint your House).
Scissors.
Pencil.
Exacto Blade or Stanley Knife.
Ruler.
First - Get your Foam Core and using your Exacto Knife, cut out 2 pieces that are 10x5cm's,(your side Walls) 2 pieces that are 9x8cm's(your front and back Walls) and a piece that is 8x10cm's(your Floor).
Next, cut out your Door(2x4 cm's) and Windows(1 and a half x 2 and a half cm's) wherever you want them on your Wall sections.
To cut out the angles on the front and back Walls for the Roof to sit on, measure 3cm down on either side of the front of both pieces, and measure 4 and a half cm's across the top of the Wall pieces.Connect the markings you've made by drawing a line from the middle to the edge where you've measured down 3cm's, then cut it out.You should have a triangle point at the top of the front and back Wall pieces.
After you've cut all of your Wall sections and cut out your Windows, you can now glue it all together with PVA Glue. Then leave it to dry a good Hour or so.
Once you have left it to dry, it should be solid enough for you to start glueing your wood(balsa wood or stir sticks) onto the building.See Image below for an example.
Both side sections of your Building should be 5cm's high, so cut your Stir Sticks to this length and Glue them on.Your Front and Back sections are a little more tricky to do, so place your Stir Sticks up to the Wall piece and mark the wood at the angle of the Building, and then cut it out before glueing it to the Building.
Once you've glued your Wood to the entire Building you can now move on to the Door and Windows. All you have to do is measure the inside of the Door and Windows, and Glue your Wood in place to create the Frames.See image below for an example.
The next thing to do is create your roof.To do this, get your piece of Cardboard and cut it into an 11x12cm piece.Measure out the middle of the piece of Cardboard and draw a line across it(this is so you know where the bend in the Roof is going to be as to not overlap the Wood too much around that area).Next, cut your Wood pieces 12cm's long and glue them across the Cardboard. You should have something like the picture below.
Once the Roof and House are dry, you can start to paint it.
The end product should be something like this -
You can do the inside of the House by painting the Walls and making a Wooden floor out of the Stir Sticks.Like so -
Anyway, this was my first attempt at Model making, so i thought i'd post a little how to about how i went about it.Hopefully it will help someone out.
Thanks for having a look.
